control (ultimate edition)
control holds up as a fun experience, filled with striking visuals, fun characters, and crisp presentation. I played to get a glimpse of the alan wake stuff and I thought it delivered pretty well.
while the game's sudden-stop ending was jarring the first time around, it REALLY hit me how out-of-nowhere it felt on this completion. it feels like it's copy-pasted from a different version of the script, where Jesse is grappling with a completely different set of issues than the ones that made her an interesting protagonist to begin with. it's truly bizarre. both Trench and Dylan feel truly underserved by what goes on, too. that said, the world they've built up is a good one, and I'm excited to jump back in someday soon.
